چکیده

Often when we review our holiday photos, we notice things we wish we could have avoided, such as vehicles, construction work, or simply other tourists. We cannot go back and retake the photo, so what can we do if we want to remove these things from our photos? We want to replace these sections of the image in a convincing way, preferably with what would really have been seen there without the occlusions. Previous work on this problem, often referred to as “inpainting”, are mainly applicable to small image regions, and rely largely on models of the local behaviour of natural images, e.g. [3, 5]. Recently, replacing large occlusions in photographs has been approached using images from the Internet [2, 7] or by combining several images captured at approximately the same time [1, 9]. In this paper we leverage recent advances in viewpoint invariant image search [8] to find other images of the same scene on the Internet. Beginning with a query image containing a target region to be replaced, we first use an online image search engine to retrieve images of the same scene, and take these to be a set of oracles. Since these images may have significant variations in viewpoint and lighting, we register each oracle to the query image using multiple homographies and a simple global photometric correction. We then use each oracle to propose a solution, by copying image data into the target region using Poisson blending. Finally, we use a Markov random field (MRF) formulation to combine the proposals into a single, occlusion-free result. Figure 1 shows the main stages of our system, and compares our result to those of two other methods.

Self-content-based audio inpainting

The popularity of voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) systems is continuously growing. Such systems depend on unreliable Internet communication, in which chunks of data often get lost during transmission. Various solutions to this problem were proposed, most of which are better suited to small rates of lost data. This work addresses this problem by filling in missing data using examples taken f...

Exemplar Based Inpainting Using Wavelet Transform

In the modern world of digitalization peoples are trying to preserve their memories event in the format of pictures. But fact is that as time passes this image may get corrupted. Images are damages due to cracks, noise and it may possible that some unwanted person also came in image. So recovery of this corrupted image becomes the necessary for preserving this image. Inpainting is art of modify...

Image Inpainting Through Quality Based Patch Selection Matrix

Image inpainting refers to the set of techniques which include filling-in of missing area (known as holes) in a picture such that modifications made to the picture are unnoticeable. The algorithms for image inpainting that are proposed in the literature are rooted on the concept to fill-in the holes by means of available information in the surroundings. This information can be automatically det...

A Survey on Image Inpainting for Remotely Sensed Images

Image inpainting is the process of reconstructing an image or to fill the missed region by using the surrounding pixels so that it looks reasonable to human eye. Sometimes, while capturing the image dead pixels will exists in the image which results in degraded image. In this paper, various algorithms are discussed by using which we can get a smoothed and undegraded image. Keywords—Inpainting, ...

Identifying Vandalized Regions in Facial Images of Statues for Inpainting

Historical monuments are considered as one of the key aspects for modern communities. Unfortunately, due to a variety of factors the monuments get damaged. One may think of digitally undoing the damage to the monuments by inpainting, a process to fill-in missing regions in an image. A majority of inpainting techniques reported in the literature require manual selection of the regions to be inpa...
